Zoom Cloud Recordings to Panopto

Enable Zoom on Canvas

  1. Log into your CBC Canvas account at https://cbc.instructure.com.
  2. Select the course you want to add the Zoom app to.
  3. Locate and click on Settings, then click on the Navigation tab on the middle menu.

  1. Scroll down to the Zoom option with the 3 dots.  Click and drag it up to the upper list of options.
  2. Go back to the course Home and you should see the Zoom link down at the bottom.

Mapping Your Zoom Cloud Recordings to Panopto

There are several ways that you can export your Zoom Cloud recordings to Panopto, however, this method is recommended as it only requires a one time setup.  For instance, if you are teaching a class that uses the same meeting room with the same ID number, this method will ensure that your recordings are automatically uploaded to your Panopto after the meetings have ended.

  1. First, make sure you are logged into your CBC Canvas account at https://cbc.instructure.com.
  2. Select the course that will be receiving the recordings.
  3. Locate and click on the "Panopto Recordings" link on the left menu.

  1. In the upper right corner of the screen, locate and click on the box with the arrow  to open Panopto.
  2. Click on your name in the upper right corner of the screen to access the pull down menu.  Select "User Settings".

  1. In the Settings menu near the bottom, locate the Meeting Import Settings.

  1. Verify that you see (Zoom) in the drop-down menu next to Meeting Mapping Source.  Under the line "Create folder mappings for the meetings you own for the above meeting source:", click "Add New".  This will allow you to enter the Zoom Meeting ID and Panopto folder you want your recordings to upload to.  Click "Save" after entering information.  You are now set up to automatically export your recorded meetings to Panopto.

Saving your Zoom Meetings to the Cloud

  1. First record your Zoom meeting using the taskbar at the bottom of the Zoom screen.
  2. Click "Record to the Cloud."

  1. Once your meeting is over, click on "More", and click "Stop this recording."
  2. Your recording will save to the cloud, then automatically upload to your Panopto recordings.  This could take several minutes, but it will show up in the folder you designated it to.

Locating your Zoom Cloud Recordings in Panopto

  1. In Canvas, under the desired course, locate the "Panopto Recordings" link.

  1. Click on the down arrow next to the folder icon and name.

  1. Navigate down to the folder where you chose to map your recordings to in the previous section of this article.

  1. Click on the desired folder and you will see your meeting recordings.

  1. You can now edit and save your recordings as needed.
