How to Forward Calls to Your Cell Phone using EC500

The purpose of this article is to explain how to utilize the EC500 feature of our phone system to forward phone calls coming in to your desk phone to your cell phone.

To utilize this feature, EC500 needs to be set up on your extension. If you do not have EC500 set up on your desk phone you will need to contact T.S. Help at 509-542-5553 to get this enabled. To set this up, we will need your cell phone number and your extension you are trying to forward. Forwarding does not work with cell phone numbers that are considered long distance. Note: just because a phone number begins with 509 as the area code does not mean that the number is considered a "local" number. If you have questions about whether or not a number is considered a local number, please contact us.

You will need your station security code associated with your extension. This is NOT your voice mail passcode. If you do not know what this code is, please contact us for assistance.

How to Forward Your Office Phone to Your Cell Phone:

  1. From any off-campus phone, dial 509-542-4540.
  2. When you hear a dial tone, dial 633.
  3. When you hear a dial tone, enter your four-digit office phone extension number then press pound (#).
  4. Enter your station security code then press pound (#). (Example dial 633 dial xxxx#, dial yyyy#) where xxxx is your extension, and yyyy is your security code.
    You should hear three confirmation tones in succession followed by silence indicating the system has accepted your changes.*
  5. Hang up to end the call.
  6. It is recommended that you place a test call to your desk phone utilizing another desk phone or have someone place a call to your desk phone to test functionality.

*Note: If you do not receive the confirmation tones, hang up, verify the codes entered, and repeat this procedure from Step 1. If you still do not receive the confirmation tones, contact T.S. Help at 509-542-5553 for assistance.

How to Disable Forwarding of Your Office Phone to Your Cell Phone:

  1. From any off-campus phone, dial 509-542-4540.
  2. When you hear a dial tone, dial 634.
  3. When you hear a dial tone, enter your four-digit office phone extension number then press pound (#).
  4. Enter your station security code then press pound (#). (Example dial 633 dial xxxx#, dial yyyy#) where xxxx is your extension, and yyyy is your security code.
    You should hear three confirmation tones in succession followed by silence indicating the system has accepted your changes.*
  5. Hang up to end the call

If you want to change the Forwarding settings for your phone and you are using a phone on campus:

  1. Utilize the steps outlined above, but instead of dialing the full 10 digit 509-542-4540 number, simply dial the extension 2540.
  2. Follow the rest of the steps outlined in the above steps.
