Sign into your CBC Canvas account using your CBC student email address and password.
Find the TextAid icon on the Canvas Global Navigation menu. The Global Navigation menu is navy blue and located at left of the screen. TextAid is located near the bottom.
Click the TextAid icon: . Follow the prompts to complete set-up.
Read the privacy consent form (GDPR) carefully and in full.
If you wish to continue and use ReadSpeaker with TextAid, carefully read and agree to the terms by clicking the green I accept the terms button.
If you do not agree and wish not to use ReadSpeaker with TextAid, select Cancel to end the process. This will take you to the logout screen and end the process.
Note 1: To use ReadSpeaker with TextAid, you must read and agree to the consent form. This only needs to be completed once, unless there are update(s) to the form in the future. At that time, you will once again be asked to read and accept the terms of service.
Note 2: You may withdraw your acceptance of the privacy/consent agreement at any time by sending an email to ReadSpeaker General Data Protection Regulation: gdpr@readspeaker.com with the following text:
"ReadSpeaker AB no longer has my permission to process my personal data so that content (text/documents) can be read out loud to me using text-to-speech technology."

- New text button: Click to create a new document to paste or type text into within TextAid’s native word processing program.
- Library button: Click to access your documents or upload new documents.
- Save button: Save your new text document to your TextAid Personal Library.
- Download as mp3 button: Download audio file
- Tools button: Use screen mask, ruler, and calculator
- Annotations button: Add notes to a document: typed notes, highlights, or drawing
- Writing assistance button: Hear letters, words, or sentences while typing [Only available in New Text documents]
- Voice settings button: Adjust the read-aloud voice speed and language
- Text settings button: Adjust the text font, size, color, and more
- Document reading button: Change how TextAid reads aloud (read highlighted selection, read from current cursor position to end of page, etc.)
Tools that only work on new text documents
Some tools work only in the New Text word processing window. You can click New Text and then paste text from an online or uploaded document into the window. Additionally, you can type your own content into the window. Remember! These tools do not work on imported documents, the documents uploaded to your TextAid Personal Library; they only work on New Text documents.
Writing Assistance: Hear letters, words, or sentences while typing. Take advantage of word prediction to have TextAid suggest words as you type.
