How to setup student Email on Android

Note: There are many Android devices that can vary in their appearance and functionality. The screenshots may not match what you see on your screen. This page is meant as a general guide to help students set up their student email on an Android phone. If you experience any difficulties, you can stop by Information Services helpdesk and we'll be happy to assist you.

General Procedure

  • Add a new Exchange account
  • For username, use your student email (e.g.,

  • If asked for server address, enter


Detailed Procedure with Screenshots

  1. Find "Add account" option on your phone. The location of this option varies depending on the device. Generally, you can find it by opening your Email app and going to Settings. You can also find it by going to main Settings screen on your phone.

  2. Enter your student email address and password. If you don't remember your email address or password, follow this link to view your student email address or change your email password: My Mail/Office 365 

  3. When prompted for account type, choose "Exchange" or "Exchange ActiveSync".
    Note: Depending on your phone, you may not be required to do steps 3 and 4. In that case, you can skip to step 5. 

  4. On "Incoming settings" screen, make sure to enter your full email address in the "Domain/Username" field. Enter in the "Server" field. Leave the rest of the fields default. 

  5. Tap "OK" if "Remote security administration" prompt shows up. 

  6. Select appropriate sync options to suit your needs. Make sure that "Sync email from this account" is checked. You can leave the rest of the fields default. 

  7. Enter "Student Email" as account name. 

  8. If "Activate device administrator" screen pops up, tap "Activate" 

  9. You are done! Your student email will begin syncing shortly. Open your Email app to view your email messages.
